المركز المصري للفيزياء النظرية هو مؤسسة أكاديمية تجمع بين البحث العلمي والتعليم العالي لخريجي أقسام الفيزياء الأساسية والرياضيات التطبيقية. تتمحور مهمته حول دعم الأبحاث العلمية فى مجالات فيزياء الطاقات الفائقة والكون, والرياضيات التطبيقية, بالإضافة الى الحسابات العلمية وفيزياء المفاعلات النووية. كما وضع المركز خططا تهدف الى إدماج تخصصات علمية أخري والى أن يصبح ذاتي التمويل.

يتعاون المركز حاليا ويعمل جاهدا على تكثيف الأبحاث والمشروعات العلمية المشتركة مع العديد من المؤسسات العلمية والعلماء المصريين والإجانب. ويقدر المركز بامتنان شديد المساندة الكريمة التى نالها من قبل وكالات ومنظمات وأفراد مصريين وغير مصريين. 

يهدف المركز الى خلق أجيال جديدة من العلماء المتخصصين في الفيزياء والرياضيات تكون قادرة على دعم البعد العلمي والدور الإستراتيجي لمؤسسات التعليم العالي من أجل جسر الهوة بين التطورات العلمية الهائلة وبين الإحتياجات المتزايدة للإجيال الشابة فى عالم دائم التطور ومنه مصر. صممت البرامج العلمية فى المركز من أجل دعم التطور المهني للعلماء الفيزياء والرياضيات فى مصر والعالم.

الأنشطة العلمية الحالية فى المركز تغطي فيزياء الجسيمات فائقة الطاقة والكون الوليد والأجرام السماوية وكذا الحسابات العلمية وفيزياء المفاعلات النووية. هذا الشمول يجعل من المركز مؤسسة علمية فريدة فى المنطقة العربية تعمل على توفير  أجواءا علمية تكافئ تلك التى توجد فى الدول الصناعية.

The ECTP was founded by the MTI modern university in Egypt.  It is a unified research and post-graduate teaching center focusing on fundamental physics and applied mathematics. Its mission is to promote research in high energy physics, cosmology, applied mathematics and computational sciences. ECTP is also planning to encompass additional areas including applications. The ECTP’s strategic destination is to be an interdisciplinary and self-financing institution for various advanced studies.

ECTP is collaborating and willing to intensify joint research projects with leading Egyptian and foreigner scholars and research institutions. The ECTP kindly acknowledges the broadminded support from domestic- and world-leading funding agencies, organizations and individuals.

ECTP basically aims to cultivate new generations of specialists in physics and mathematics committed to and capable of promoting the scientific dimensions and the strategic roles of the higher education institutions,  in order to bridge the gap between the best scholarly research and the pressing needs of young generation towards a rapidly changing world (Egypt). The ECTP’s research programs are mainly designed to further the professional development of national and international specialists in physics and mathematics.

The current scientific activities at the ECTP cover the particle physics at extreme conditions that might simulate the early universe and compact stellar objects, to the quantum chromo dynamics, quark matter, hadrons, and computational sciences. The breadth and depth of research at the ECTP make it a unique environment for researchers in the region.
