Have you ever thought that a small dish of Molokhiyya (a traditional Egyptian soup) or a glass of Erk Sous (a tradition Egyptian brewed Licorice drink) may influence your medicine's functionality?

Here is a comprehensive answer to this question

The professors and students of the Drug Interaction (PO 009) course at the Faculty of Pharmacy, MTI University aim at coping with the latest trends through a real –world project entitled:

"Safe Sufra: Exploring Drug-Food Interactions at the Egyptian Family Table"

The Faculty of Pharmacy does not only facilitate a convenient academic setting for chemical interactions studies, but  it also provides an environment for examining the meals on the "Egyptian family table", including breakfast (the famous Egyptian Falafel, Ful Medames, and Stored Cheese), dinner (evening tea and coffee), and lunch (the renowned Egyptian stuffed vegetables and cabbage rolls with crispy roasted duck dish).

Why do that?

It is because the pharmacists' roles are not only restricted to filling medical prescriptions, it is also their mission to protect patients from any dietary interventions that may result in adverse effects, as follows:

-          Reducing medicine's functionality, thereby causing treatment failure.

-          Increasing medicine's functionality, causing severe hazards.
