Controls Engineer

Coordinator
Control engineering or control systems engineering is  an engineering discipline that deals with control systems, applying control theory to design equipment and systems with desired behaviours in control environments.

The discipline of controls overlaps and is usually taught along with electrical engineering and mechanical engineering at many institutions around the world.

The practice uses sensors and detectors to measure the output performance of the process being controlled; these measurements are used to provide corrective feedback helping to achieve the desired performance.

Systems designed to perform without requiring human input are called automatic control systems (such as cruise control for regulating the speed of a car).

Multi-disciplinary in nature, control systems engineering activities focus on implementation of control systems mainly derived by mathematical modelling of a diverse range of systems

To achieve the program goal, the program aims at shaping the fresh graduate to be able to:

1- Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering concepts to the solution of engineering problems.

2- Design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data.

3- Design a system; component and process to meet the required needs within realistic constraints.

4- Identify, formulate, and solve fundamental engineering problems.

5- Display professional and ethical responsibilities, and contextual understanding.

6- Consider the impacts of engineering solutions on society & environment.

7- Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary engineering issues.

8- Use the techniques, skills, and appropriate engineering tools, necessary for engineering practice and project management.

1- Work with vendors to source equipment and components for control systems.

2- Analyze data generated by control systems to identify areas for improvement.

3- Implement cybersecurity measures to protect against cyber-attacks on control systems.

4- Develop and document troubleshooting procedures for common control system issues.

5- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including suppliers, customers, and regulatory.
