FACULTY OF
ENGINEERING

Dean's Message

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Faculty of Engineering at the Modern University of Technology and Information (MTI).You should be commended for your insight in considering Engineering as a career field. Industry Analysts, all over the world, agree that Engineering and Technology is the career of the Twenty first Century and beyond. As engineering leads the way for the industry into the high tech era, MTI has earned a position of leadership with its collaboration with several first class European Universities. The purpose of our Faculty of Engineering is to provide a multi discipline oriented Engineering Educational program of such fundamental background, scope and excellence. These enable students to achieve competency and proficiency for conductive careers, and in doing so, develop character, judgment, breath of view and understanding of our social and economic systems. To meet this end, the faculty maintains all necessary material, human and academic resources. The faculty is equipped with all modern laboratories and the staff is highly qualified academics, selected from national and international universities, most of them are full timers. The curriculum is designed with the state of the art to meet the international accreditations standards. I wish you all the success for your future, and I trust that you will find your chosen courses of specialty to be both richly rewarding and stimulating.

STAFF
Study Policy

Academic Advising:

At initial Registration, students are advised by a full-time faculty member.

After the initial Registration each student is assigned a member of the full-time faculty staff as an Academic Adviser. Students meet with their advisers to review their academic progress, choose courses for the following semester and plan their course study.

Advisers welcome the opportunity to help students to gain maximum benefit from their educational experience.

The adviser’s opinion is only consultative and not an obligation.

Office of the Registrar:

The office of the Registrar at Faculty of Engineering provides a number of significant services to MTI students. The office is responsible for Registration, scheduling, issuing Transcripts and enrolment Verification Certificates, maintaining student records, and certifying students for graduation.

Registration:

Students register for classes before the beginning of each semester. Registration forms are available at the office of the Registrar.

Registration information and other relevant class announcements are published in the schedule of classes printed for each semester.

Only students who are officially enrolled may attend classes and receive academic credit for instruction.

A student is registered for a course upon the recommendation of the academic adviser. Only the courses for which assigned fees are paid will be registered for the student.

Course Load Limitations:

The maximum course load is 18-20 credit hours, the minimum is 12 credit hours.

The maximum and minimum course load may be waived for the purpose of a student’s graduation.

The maximum course load in summer semester is 9 credit hours.

Change of program of study- add / Drop:

A student who change a program of study (by adding or dropping a course during the period designated for add/drop) must fill a request to add/drop from the registrar and approved by the academic adviser to secure computer entry of course adjustment.

Students officially dropping/adding credit hours during the designated period of add/drop are entitled to receive a refund if such a change results in reduction of tuition charged.

Changes made after the designated period of add/drop may not qualify for refund.

Declaration and change of major:

Declaration of major starts are defined after the preparatory phase (the third semester) students have to choose civil, electrical, mechanical, or architecture engineering. After the fourth semester before he may select the minor; construction, construction management, mechatronics, production, tele-communications, computer engineering, control engineering, bio-electronics.

Students wishing to change the major of study must obtain the approval of the new major department and the release of the former department such official approvals must be filed with the office the registrar.

Students should be aware that the time required to secure a degree may be lengthened as the result of a change of major and should make such changes only after consultation with an academic adviser.

Withdrawal from a course:

Students may officially withdraw from a course without penalty during the period assigned by the faculty. When such a withdrawal is processed officially and field with the office of the registrar a grade of W will be entered on the student’s transcript.

If the student stops attending classes, or fails to file the withdraw form on time, a failing grade may be given.

Withdrawal from the course does not secure refund of the tuition of that course.

Mission

Faculty of engineering is committed to enhance and maintain an environment of educational excellence in most modern engineering discipline. This provides exceptional growth for students, faculty and staff, motivating and empowering them for lifelong learning and professional success.

The faculty has a number of objectives:

1- Theory and practice are viewed as partners in the learning process.

2- Classroom lectures are continually translated into practice through regular, formal contact with business and industry, laboratory work, field training, group projects, and actual experience in the professional community.

3- Humanities and social sciences, included in all programs, enable you to develop the capacity to understand the environment you will function in both as professionals and as educated citizens.

4- To offer you international certificate in addition to our MTI certificate for first class

5- European universities as well as center of intelligence such as Microsoft.

Departements

Dr.Tamer Mohamed Akmal Refaat

Head Of Architecture Department

The department of architecture was established in 2006 with a four year course in architectural engineering leading to the Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Our department is committed to the philosophy that Architects have a role to play in the aesthetic social and cultural betterment of society. So our program offers comprehensive preparation for practice and licensees designed to highlight the commitment to professional and public since and we offer also a range of course which provide training for those who which to practice architecture and those who which to undertake research in the field of Architecture.

Dr Deyaa Mohammed Ehsan Elrayes

Head Of  Electrical Engineering Department

The two pathway department of Electrical Engineering ( Communications and computer ) curriculum is designed to strike a balance between theoretical and laboratory experience and to combine fundamental and practical understanding of the principles required for a successful career in the electronics , communication and computers. This requires a solid core of foundation  courses in physics , mathematics , computer science and general engineering. Concentration courses in electronics and communications engineering that integrate theory and laboratory whenever possible. The aim of this program ( for the communications pathway) is to provide the students with a solid scientific and technical background and research capabilities in the design, development, manufacturing of communications electronic devices and systems. The computer pathway is focused on computer hardware, architecture, computer operating systems, computer networks and artificial intelligence.
