Dean's Message

On my behalf and on behalf of the academic and administrative body of the faculty, I am pleased to welcome you to the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Modern University for Technology and Information. This college promises a better future for its students, and I am sure that studying pharmacy in our faculty is a good recipe for a promising and fruitful future.

 

The faculty of pharmacy includes a distinguished group of faculty members and the supporting staff, and is equipped with the latest laboratories, and everyone here is committed to his role in achieving the faculty’s mission in preparing qualified pharmacists to occupy several positions in the health sectors in the fields of treatment and medicine, in addition to providing consultations regarding the optimal use of medicines. In order to develop health services, pharmaceutical care and drug manufacturing.

 

We promise the college students that they will receive all care and attention through quality education and training, and make the most of the advanced training methods, as the college curricula enrich the student with a solid base of basic medical sciences, pharmacology and clinical science courses in addition to professional training.

 

In addition to the Bachelor of Pharmacy, a new program will be introduced in the academic year 2021/2022, which is the Bachelor of Clinical Pharmacy program in order to provide graduates with advanced knowledge, skills and practical abilities to exercise the role of clinical pharmacist in all aspects of the hospital including ambulatory care, acute care, intensive care and long-term care. The fields of work in pharmacy after graduation are many and are constantly renewed, and with the development of the pharmacist’s work in the therapeutic and clinical fields, he can work in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, clinical pharmacy, and in marketing and advertising, in addition to working in the governmental pharmacy management departments and pharmaceutical factories, in addition to teaching and research Scientific research in various pharmacy journals.

Study Policy

credit hour system is applied all through the duration of study of Five years in our college and it is divided into ten semesters. Each academic year comprises 3 academic semesters namely Fall, Spring and Summer. A student is supposed to study 170 credit hours throughout a period of five years. The total credit hours comprise 162 credit hours of compulsory courses and ten credit hours of elective courses.

Faculty of pharmacy- Modern university for technology and information presents an advanced and creative studying program to qualify pharmacists capable of being competitive both locally and internationally in all fields of pharmaceutical work, supporting and developing drug industry, and participating effectively in the fields of scientific research and community development.

Vision

Faculty of pharmacy – Modern university for technology and information is looking forward to becoming a pioneer educational institution in the field of drug industry and community service by graduating efficient pharmacists who are able to compete and be creative both locally and internationally.

Departments

The department offers many courses that are covering all levels of the pharmacy program including pharmacy orientation, mathematics, physical pharamcy, pharmaceutics I, II, III, biopharmaceuticals, pharamcokinetics, hospital and community pharmacy, industerial pharmacy as well as pharmaceutical quality control and quality assurance, pharmacy management and marketing. Novel drug delivery system and cosmotics are also elective courses provided by the department. The main goal of teaching these courses is to enable students to learn the know-how of formulating a pharmacologically active entity into safe and stable dosage form that is convenient for administration.

    The Department offers courses in parasitology and pathology,  microbiology and immunology and medical microbiology besides public health, biotechnology, gene therapy and applied genetic engineering as well as pharmaceutical microbiology. On completion of the courses, students will be able to learn the basics of microscopical identification of microorganisms, laboratory tests to detect infectious agents and anti-microbial agents used to manage infection such as antibiotics, antifungals, and antiviral. Different techniques used in sterilization as well as various protocols adopted to control microbial diseases will be taught. Immunology, virology and recent applications of genes in the medical field are almost among the topics provided.

The department offers courses in general and physical chemistry, analytical chemistry (I, II, III), applied and instrumental analysis. These courses provide major basic scientific information on drug and pharmaceutical products analyses for the purpose of checking quality and conformity according to the international standards. Various methods of analysis are used that pertain the new instrumental devices. The department is also co-sharing the teaching of the quality control and quality assurance with department of Pharmaceutics; this course is mainly confined with providing students information on different quality control and assurance aspects in many applications including pharmaceutical industry, water sanitation, food and agriculture products as well as biochemical and microbiological labs.
